At Lions Boxing in Newcastle, we believe that every woman deserves access to high-quality boxing training in an environment where she feels comfortable, supported, and empowered. Our women's boxing program is specifically designed to provide exactly that. These are not watered-down fitness classes — this is real boxing instruction delivered by certified coaches in a women's-only setting that removes the intimidation factor that can come with walking into a traditional boxing gym for the first time.

Women's boxing has exploded in popularity in recent years, and for good reason. Boxing delivers an unmatched full-body workout that builds lean muscle, burns fat, improves cardiovascular health, and develops coordination and reflexes. But beyond the physical transformation, women consistently report that boxing training gives them a sense of empowerment, mental clarity, and confidence that extends into every area of their lives.

Our Newcastle gym is easily accessible from Highway 2 and the 401, serving the eastern Clarington and Northumberland communities. We welcome women from Port Hope, Cobourg, Orono, Bowmanville, and the eastern Durham Region. While our classes focus on boxing as a sport, the skills you develop — situational awareness, distance management, and striking technique — translate naturally into practical self-defence knowledge.

The women's classes at Lions Boxing attract a diverse group of members — from university students to working professionals to retirees who want to stay active and strong. What they all share is a willingness to challenge themselves and a desire to be part of a community that lifts each other up.

Our coaches understand that walking into a boxing gym for the first time can feel daunting. That is why our women's sessions are structured to be approachable for absolute beginners while still offering enough intensity and technical depth to keep experienced members engaged. You will never be thrown into the deep end or expected to know what you are doing on day one. Every drill is demonstrated, explained, and coached in real time.

The women's program runs during dedicated time slots separate from our mixed adult classes, giving you a space that is entirely your own. However, many of our women's members also choose to attend the regular adult classes as their confidence grows — and they are always welcome to do so. The women's program is a starting point, not a limitation. It is there to make sure every woman who walks through our door has the opportunity to fall in love with the sport in an environment that feels right for her.
