Lions Cubs in Newcastle
Our introductory boxing and fitness program for little lions ages 5–8.
Where Young Lions Learn to Roar
Lions Cubs at Lions Boxing in Newcastle is a fun-first introduction to boxing and fitness for children aged 5 to 8. There is no fighting and no contact — just games-based movement, basic boxing fundamentals, and lots of energy in a safe, structured environment. Every session is led by certified Boxing Ontario coaches who know how to keep young kids engaged, active, and smiling.
At this age, the goal isn't producing boxers — it's building the foundations every active kid needs: coordination, balance, listening skills, and the confidence that comes from learning something new. Cubs learn to follow instructions, take turns, encourage their teammates, and celebrate effort over outcome. It's structured enough to build discipline, and playful enough that they'll be asking to come back.
Our Newcastle location is easily accessible from Highway 2 and the 401, serving the eastern Clarington and Northumberland communities. Serving families across eastern Clarington and Northumberland County, including Port Hope, Cobourg, Orono, and surrounding communities. We welcome families from Port Hope, Cobourg, Orono, Bowmanville, and the eastern Durham Region — if your little one can get here, we'd love to meet them.
What Your Cub Will Learn
Age-appropriate skills that set them up for any sport — and for life.
Movement Fundamentals
Balance, coordination, footwork, and basic boxing shapes taught through games and drills designed for young bodies and short attention spans.
Listening & Focus
Following instructions, taking turns, and staying on task — skills that make the transition to school, team sports, and our Youth Leadership Academy easier.
Confidence & Fun
High-energy, encouragement-filled sessions where every Cub gets individual attention and leaves feeling proud of what they accomplished.
Built for Little Athletes
Safety comes first with our youngest members. Lions Cubs sessions are fully supervised, completely non-contact, and run in dedicated time slots so Cubs train only with kids their own age. Class sizes are kept small so coaches can give every child the attention they need, and all equipment is provided and sized for small hands.
Sessions are short, structured, and varied — a warm-up game, a skill station, pad or bag play, and a fun finisher — because at ages 5 to 8, engagement is everything. Our coaches are experienced with young children and know how to turn wiggles and giggles into focus and effort without ever losing the fun.
When your Cub turns 9, they'll be ready to graduate into our Youth Leadership Academy, where the skills they've built — and the love of training they've developed — carry them forward.
