At Lions Boxing in Newcastle, our adult classes are open to anyone aged 18 and older, regardless of experience. Whether you have never thrown a punch before or you are a seasoned fighter looking for quality sparring partners and coaching, our gym is built for you. Every class is led by certified Boxing Ontario coaches who bring years of competitive and coaching experience to every session.
Boxing is widely regarded as one of the most effective full-body workouts in the world. A single session at Lions Boxing will challenge your cardiovascular endurance, build functional strength, sharpen your reflexes, and push your mental toughness to new levels. But beyond the physical benefits, boxing teaches you something most fitness programs cannot: how to stay composed under pressure, how to solve problems in real time, and how to push through when things get hard.
Our Newcastle gym is easily accessible from Highway 2 and the 401, serving the eastern Clarington and Northumberland communities. We welcome adult members from Port Hope, Cobourg, Orono, Bowmanville, and the eastern Durham Region. What to Expect in Class
Structured sessions designed to develop real boxing skills and elite fitness.
Warm-Up & Conditioning
Each class begins with a dynamic warm-up that includes skipping, shadow boxing, and mobility work. This prepares your body for the demands of training and reduces the risk of injury.
Technique & Drills
The core of each session focuses on boxing technique — stance, footwork, combinations, defensive movements, and ring strategy. Coaches provide hands-on instruction and individual feedback.
Bag Work & Sparring
Put your skills to work on heavy bags, speed bags, and focus mitts. For those ready, supervised sparring sessions offer a chance to test your skills in a controlled environment.

Our adult classes cater to a wide range of goals. Many of our members join to get in the best shape of their lives — and boxing delivers results fast. The combination of high-intensity interval training, resistance work, and skill development means you will burn calories, build lean muscle, and improve your overall athleticism in ways that a traditional gym membership simply cannot match.
For those with competitive aspirations, Lions Boxing provides a clear pathway from beginner to the ring. As a registered Boxing Ontario club, our athletes have access to sanctioned bouts, provincial championships, and the coaching support needed to compete at the highest amateur levels. Our coaches have trained fighters who have gone on to compete at regional and provincial tournaments, and we take pride in developing well-rounded boxers who represent the sport with integrity.
No matter your starting point, our coaches will tailor their instruction to meet you where you are. First-timers work on fundamentals while more advanced members refine technique and prepare for competition. Class Schedule
Weekday Classes
Adult classes run Monday through Thursday evenings. Multiple time slots are available to fit your schedule, with sessions running from 5:45 PM through to 9:00 PM.

Saturday morning sessions are available from 8:15 AM to 10:30 AM. Sunday sessions are available by appointment only for personal training and competitive preparation.
